The accomplishments I would most like to see ORRA
achieve during my term are to increase engagement via
leadership outreach efforts and to expand our service
area.
The most valuable services that ORRA offers members
are education, professionalism training, growth opportunities,
and leadership development and growth.
I choose to be involved with ORRA because it is my way
of giving back to an industry that has given so much to
me and my family.
The factors most affecting the future of Orlando’s
housing market are the professionalism of associates
and brokers; associates that work part time; borderline
business practices; and improvement in our area’s job
creation. Low inventory levels are creating excess tension
in our market and influencing price.
What I think will be different about ORRA in five years
is expanded technologies, consolidation, and increased
diversity.
The most pressing local real estate issues are lack of
inventory, slow wage growth, and REALTOR® professionalism
issues.
The most pressing national real estate issues are
government incompetency and inconsistency; regulatory
threats to mortgage and real estate practices; the CFPB;
and government overreach.
My three goals as a real estate professional for 2018 are
to improve, grow and remember to give thanks.
The most important real
estate lesson I’ve learned
is to listen first. It’s more
important to DO right, than
to BE right.
The most rewarding part of
real estate is helping people
realize their dreams, whether
they are consumers or sales
associates!
PRESIDENTELECT
Jeff Fagan
Watson Realty Corp
My three goals as an ORRA leader for 2018 are to help
the association find a new headquarters building that
appropriately reflects the importance of REALTORS® and
the real estate industry in Central Florida; to develop
two ORRA satellite offices that offer greater convenience
to members; and to create interactive “heatmaps” that
illustrate where the greatest concentrations of current
and future members are located.
The most valuable services that ORRA offers members
are education and defense. ORRA joins efforts on the
national and state levels to protect REALTORS’® ability
to practice real estate, and also to protect us against the
intrusion of outside third-party aggregators that seek to
access and control listing data.
The best thing that has happened since I started
volunteering with ORRA is gaining a better appreciation
of how the real estate industry functions as an economic
driver. I’ve also gotten a real eye-opener regarding the
way an association operates and tries to satisfy a wide
range of individuals with a wide range of interests.
The most pressing local real estate issue is the lack of
affordable single-family inventory.
The most pressing national real estate issue is lack
of affordable housing across all home types, including
rentals and multifamily.
The most pressing national REALTOR® issue is protection
of the mortgage interest deduction and maintenance
of flood insurance.
The most important real estate lesson I’ve learned is
that patience is a virtue, not only in the luxury realm but
across all price categories.
The most challenging part of
real estate is convincing both
buyers and sellers that you are
doing everything in their best
interest.
