Helps Cheerleaders go
to National Competition
The Zephyrhills High
School Bulldog Cheerleaders
qualified for Florida
National High School
Cheerleading Championship
in February held at
Disney’s Wide World of
Sports in Orlando. It is the first time they ever made it so far in the
competition and it’s exciting - but it’s not free. Among the cost are
registration fees to compete and then rooms and meals and recreational
expenses connected with such trips. The costs mount up and
the reality is that some may not be able to go.
In steps Wade Thomas and the Thomas and Son, Inc. dealership.
They donated $2,000 to the cause covering the cost of registration
for all the cheerleaders. “I didn’t want any of the cheerleaders to have
to stay home because they didn’t have the funds,” Thomas said. “It’s
important to us that they all get to go and represent Zephyrhills.
They all worked for it, they all should be able to go.”
The competition will be three days, Feb 9-11. Yargus believes that
the team of 14 girls has the drive and determination to do well. The
ZHS Cheerleaders will be holding a fundraiser for other expenses
in the form of a Winter Cheer Night. Kids from three years old to
eighth grade are invited to cheer with the cheerleaders at a game Jan.
12, 2018 in the ZHS Gym. Participation cost $20 per student and
practices will be held January 10 and 11. The registration fee covers
participation, a t-shirt, and admission to the game. They will cheer
with the ZHS Varsity Cheerleaders for the first two quarters and will
perform a dance during half time.
