served countless individuals and families
facing challenges, wanting to live more
freely and with purpose. In my practice I
have worked with many people wanting
to let go of past hurts and self-defeating
behaviors that are barriers to moving
forward and living a life full or purpose.
Notice the operative term I use is “let
go of” and not heal from. The truth is
that often the healing comes later. But
the active decision to let go – refuse to
continue focusing on or giving in to a
life of hurt, will almost always start the
healing process. I often ask my clients
this question; “what person, behavior,
or experience will you choose to leave
behind?” This is a question that requires
24
very careful consideration as this will
often define the direction of treatment
moving forward. I encourage my clients
to think of a “New Me” as a therapeutic
activity. I have found this consideration
has great success on many levels from
elementary school children I have worked
with to adults. It is empowering to know
that you don’t have to continue in an
unhealthy way that may be directing you
to feel like you are living a life void of
purpose, and encouraging to know what
you can do to move forward in a positive
direction.
In Closing, the best way to begin your
journey to finding purpose in life is
to first identify and let go of what is
stopping you from moving forward. I
know this is easy to say and at times it
is incredibly difficult to do. That is why
it is so important to get started today.
The countdown is on…… What person,
behavior, or experience will you leave
behind?
As always self-love is magical…..It makes
hate disappear and envy evaporate!
“WHAT PERSION, BEHAVIOR, OR
EXPERIENCE WILL YOU CHOOSE
TO LEAVE BEHIND?”
“Knowing your
purpose in life is
critical to moving
forward in a way that
is intentional and
impactful. But how do
we begin (or continue)
to live a life full of
purpose no matter
the circumstances?”
