The Charlotte
Regional
Farmers Market
Designed to promote local business inspired by Charlotte’s Cultural diversity
You don’t have to listen to local
radio or news for too long before
you hear something about supporting
local farmers. For not one of us
questions the value and quality of
locally harvested produce, nor the
importance of supporting the local
community.
We often go to restaurants that tout
the ubiquitous phrase “farm to table,”
and we place a high value on those
words. For it makes us feel good when
we know the chain of custody our
cauliflower puree endured before it
was so delicately placed on our plate
next to the grass-fed ribeye.
We go to the grocery stores and spend
quite a bit of time reading labels we
don’t understand. We look for the
terms “non-GMO,” “all natural” and
“organic” and still wonder at the
checkout line whether we’re really
getting what we think. We try to
understand the difference among
“fresh,” “frozen fresh,” “wild-caught,”
and “locally grown.”
Since 1985, the North Carolina
Department of Agriculture and
Consumer Services has provided a
venue that supports local agriculture
in a way specifically designed to
impact Charlotte’s multicultural
diversity. We often see farmers
