in therapy. “Yes, I want to write, but what am I
going to do with my life?” I couldn’t admit that
writing was an answer. There is a path inside you
already. We’re going to let it out. This is a path of
listening to your heart instead of your head. At
the level of the mind, everything looks the same.
At the level of the soul, spirit, heart, gut, there
is one or two things that really stand out. stop
thinking and start feeling. Relax. Meditate. Play.
get into a different state of mind, and you will
know different things.
what do you tell people to
do when they’re facing a
challenge that they didn’t
choose?
Whatever circumstance you’re in right now, don’t
fight it—or assume that something is wrong. Your
life isn’t about your circumstances. Your life is
about what you do with your circumstances—
and who you become. The quality of our lives
depends on the quality of how we respond to
whatever’s going on. It’s a turning point moment.
Will you choose from love? Or will you choose
from fear? Strength or weakness? In my coaching
practice, I’ve seen many people who feel as
though their life is over. I always remind them
that their old life is over. But something else is
going on. It’s like a birth process. The embryo feels
pushed out of the womb. But this is expansion
and growth, not something negative. Remind
yourself that what’s falling apart is really what’s
falling together. I’d say that when your plans fail,
your destiny begins. Something else is going on.
You’re off the map now. You will need to learn how
to train your mind to help you rather than hurt
you. You can stay focused and happy no matter
what’s going on. This is real freedom. This is really
thriving. Sometimes it’s only limits that can teach
us how unlimited we are.
in “thriving through uncertainty”,
you say “You owe it
to yourself to make braver
choices.” what do you mean
by that and how can we do it?
I want to train people to move from the comfort
zone to the stellar zone. Being passionately alive
doesn’t come from doing what you’ve always
done. There’s a Tibetan proverb that says, “if
you want to know your future, look at what
you’re doing in this moment.” Stop letting the
voice of weakness tell you what’s possible. You
are stronger than you know. You may need to
remind yourself that you want to experience the
ultimate comfort in this lifetime more than you
want comfort in this moment—and that involves
making braver choices.
what do you hope readers will
take away from your book?
or is there something you
want our listeners to know?
Most of us are living our lives thinking, if I just
get over there I’ll be okay - or if this happens
I’ll be okay. Or when that happens, I’ll be okay.
But life is all about transition. We’re always
facing uncertainty. This is a threshold where
you get to decide who you really are, instead
of allowing the world to decide for you. I
want to help you choose from love instead of
fear, strength instead of weakness. I want to
help you make the most inspired decisions
of your lifetime. When you show up for your
true desires, life shows up for you. I’m not
a fan of being realistic, as in settling. I’m a
fan of creating a new reality. What if you are
stronger than you know? What if you believed
in yourself more than you believed in your fears
or other peoples’ fears? It’s time to stop forcing
your life, and start discovering it instead.
I want to comfort and uplift those who are in
the middle of change. It takes so much courage
to believe in yourself and find your own way. But
you do have a way. I want to help you listen to
your own brilliant instincts and create the life you
could never have planned. You’re dreams aren’t
frivolous. They’re imperative. It’s time to trust
yourself and you will know what to do. That’s
what this time of transition is all about. Don’t
wish it away. It’s your life. And it may just be the
best part of your life.
