This month we’re introducing a fun way
to combine two collection releases into
one mini project, sure to make your door
the envy of your neighborhood all year!
In this month’s Festive Door Danglers collection,
you get to choose between a variety of fun
characters perfectly paired to match multiple
holidays throughout the year. With an Easter
bunny for spring to a scarecrow for fall, there’s a
Dangler for any time of year! March also brings
another seasonal project in our Anita’s Express
release, Seasonal Welcome Signs. These cute
signs set the cheery mood at your entryway,
whether you’re decorating for the warmer
weather or a favorite holiday. Since both of
these collections feature elements for multiple
occasions, we’ve crafted up the perfect way to
use both of them together. Each Festive Door
Dangler has a complimentary Welcome Sign
that could be paired with it. Whichever holiday
or season you decide to deck out your door
for, we’ve got you covered in how to make the
perfect first impression on your stoop.

Choosing your Theme
The best place to start when making your
Seasonal Welcome Sign and Festive Door
Dangler pairing would be to choose a holiday
or season from the options in both collections.
For our example here, we decided to create
the Uncle Sam Door Dangler to go with the
Home Sweet Home Seasonal Welcome Sign.
To pair two collections together, the true test
of cohesiveness will come from the colors and
fabrics you decide to incorporate. For Uncle
Sam, the obvious holiday choice was Fourth
of July. Once you have a theme chosen, you
can then begin picking colors that embody the
holiday or season you want to display.
Picking Fabrics & Threads
For inspiration, we often look up photos
or themes online to use as a basis for the
collections we work on, which can be a great
tool to finding color ideas you may not have
considered. When you’ve found a source of
inspiration, save the photo or page and use it to
look back on throughout your project to ensure
you’re accomplishing the look and feel desired.
This inspiration source is a great starting
point for picking fabrics. Look for options that
incorporate solids and prints or textures to
make the finished piece more dynamic. Once
a set of fabrics or fat quarter bundle is chosen,
begin selecting a thread color palette that
works well with your fabric choices.
At Anita Goodesign, we are fans of choosing
fat quarter bundles, or a selection of precoordinated
fabrics which are all cut at a slightly
wide or “fat” quarter yard measurement. These
fabrics are usually consistent with one another’s
color scheme or design elements and help tie
various collections or projects together. For the
Uncle Sam Dangler and Home Sweet Home
door sign, we decided to stick with a Fourth of
July color palette of red, white, and blue. We
carried over our fabric and thread choices to
make the two designs complement one another
since they will be displayed in the same space.
