Cut from a Different Cloth
Before you begin stitching your appliqué blocks,
you must first select the fabrics you will be using.
For inspiration in picking colors, we referenced
photos of the original masterpiece, as well as
looking up colors, tones, and textures commonly
used. This helped us build an array of basic and
tonal shades that could be used as the base for
the various figures and setting in the least amount
of appliqué steps.
Below are swatches of the appliqué fabrics that
were used in our stitch outs. If you are able to
match your fabric choices with the pictures below
you should be able to use all the Floriani thread
colors we have provided in the tutorial steps.
If your fabric colors vary from ours, just be sure you
adjust your threads to match the fabrics you select.
