step-by-step instructions
Once the corners are stitched, you will want to cut away the
excess fabric at the corner to reduce bulk in your seams.
Once all your rows have been sewn together, your tile scene will
look like this.
Your mitered corner will look like this once stitched.
Next, cut your back fabric at least 2” bigger than the tile scene
all the way around. Lay down your back fabric face down, then
lay your tile scene on top facing up, so that wrong sides are
together.
Using a walking foot, carefully stitch in the ditch through all of the
layers. This method minimizes how much thread shows on the
top of the quilt. We suggest using either a matching thread or
clear monofilament thread when stitching in the ditch.
Using safety pins, carefully pin both layers together inside the
quilt blocks. We recommend 2-4 pins inside each block. You do
not want your fabric to shift while you quilt your layers together.
