Texas Association Recognizes Company’s
Commitment to Air Quality Programs
The Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG) recently named
Martin Marietta as one of its 2017 Community Stewards of the Year.
Presented on Dec. 6 to Martin Marietta and eight additional
companies operating in the San Antonio area, the award recognizes
efforts made to assist the AACOG in funding its air quality outreach
and education programs.
Accepting the award on behalf of the company were Kristin Stein,
environmental manager at the Hunter Cement Plant, and Southwest
Division Vice President of Environment, Government and Public Affairs
David Perkins.
Perkins said Martin Marietta and the AACOG have worked closely
for several years and that he and others in the company were eager
to assist after learning of funding cuts to the AACOG’s air quality
programs.
“Providing this support allowed us to demonstrate our commitment
to this important organization,” he said. “It also enabled us to further
solidify our reputation as a community role model in the area of
environmental stewardship.”
