Begin sewing along the tacking line again.
TIP: If it’s difficult to see the tacking line, just remember to sew in
a straight line, 1/2” from the raw edge of the binding and seam
allowance.

Once you have finished attaching the binding to the trivet edge,
your project will look something like this.

Turn the trivet over bringing the binding to the back side (facing
you). Fold the raw edge of the binding in to meet the raw edge of
the trivet. Press each folded edge.
Repeat steps T through V for each corner. Continue to stitch a 1/2”
seam alllowance until you return the binding to the starting point.
Overlap the end of the binding with the start at about 2” and trim
the excess.
Next, use an iron to press the edges so that you can fold them
over and onto the back of the trivet.
You will now create a double fold by folding the same edge up
over the trivet just past the tacking stitch. Pin the binding in place.
