Trim the excess fabric from the tacking stitch.

Continue to run any appliqué and embroidery steps until you
reach a placement stitch for the folded fabric border.

Next will be a folding stitch.
Once trimmed, your appliqué will look something like this.
Place your first border fabric, right side down, overlapping the
placement stitch by at least a 1/4”.
Pull the fabric taut over the line, giving it a finger crease, and
secure in place with tape. Then, run the tacking stitch for the
border fabric.
