Use an iron to butterfly open the newly created binding seam.

At the starting point, fold the binding back on itself to create a
triangle, then begin sewing a 1⁄2” from the edge until you reach the
corner.

Next, take the binding and fold it downward to create a crease
along the 45 degree seam.
Pin the binding strip along the edge of the front of the quilt.
Once you reach the corner, stop 1⁄2” from the edge, and sew to
the corner at a 45 degree angle.
Now fold the binding back upon itself to create another crease,
which will line up with the fold with the bottom edge.
