Picking a background is one of the most important
parts of building your own quilt block. When picking
colors, it’s important to look at the big picture.
HOW I T WOR K S
Building your own quilt block requires a few different
elements. Though a background block is necessary, frames
and center designs are interchangeable and are not actually
required for each block. We want you to start your custom
quilt block successfully, by telling you exactly how to add
each element to the design.
With these basic skills you will be able to mix and match quilt
blocks with lots of different collections. This technique will
give you the option of adding a background block and frame
with a custom message or monogram that you can add using
your embroidery machine’s software. Another idea is creating
the background block with just the center design, for a bold
statement block.

The frames included in this collection
incorporate folded fabric borders. This not only
frames the individual block, but also gives the
opportunity to add dimension and tie in colors
from the rest of the quilt.
