CHOOSING
YOUR COLORS
When you choose fabrics and colors for your designs,
consider the landscape in the scene. Would you like a literal
interpretation or a surreal, dream-like color pallet. The world
is your pallet! Find inspiration around you.
FABRICS NOTIONS
The best part about
landscapes are the
wide range of colors
and textures you can
come across. Find
inspiration in nature and
you have access to the
full rainbow of colors.
Silky sunbeams and burlap byways are the
best way to take in the panoramic views of
the Horizons quilt.
Each landscape appliqué is finished off
with a zig-zag stitch that creates a blended
appearance, while also covering the raw
edge of the fabric. This makes it easier
to combine differently textured fabrics in
the same scene, while still maintaining a
cohesive look for the landscape.
You can tell a narrative journey by
combining quilt blocks for a wall hanging,
or you can remember precious moments
during road trips or exotic vacations by
singling out blocks for a framed memory.
Use the block as a backdrop for a shadow
box and fill it with mementos that remind
you of a faraway place.
Horizons | Mix & Match Quilting Collection | 38
Each scene in our
Horizons collection
uses a unique colorway
to show all the
possibilities from playful
to moody.
Landscapes are never
the same shape or
texture. Enhance the
landscape by using
fabrics like burlap and
damask to create
interest and dimension.
As with any quilting
collection, you will
need a ruler, rotary
cutter, and embroidery
scissors. You may need
a seam ripper and tape
just in case.
