For standard and landscape appliqué, place the fabric face up
on top of the placement stitch. Make sure the fabric completely
covers the placement stitch, and leave a 1/2” seam allowance
outside of the batting area.

Once you have trimmed the appliqué fabric, it will look something
like this. Note that there is at least 1/2” seam allowance outside of
the batting area.

After the placement stitch, place the fabric face down on the
edge of the placement stitch.
The next machine step is the tacking stitch. This will hold the
appliqué in place, then trim the excess appliqué fabric.
Repeat steps D through G to complete any remaining landscape
or standard appliqué steps. For folded fabric appliqué, continue
from here.
