In order to create the unique ombre effect in this collection,
we used a variety of blue and teal shades. Each of the
blocks uses sheer organza to cover the landscape appliqué
portions, this helps the fabrics blend together and gives a
shimmering movement-like effect for the water within
the blocks.
The first row of blocks is designed to show the water’s
surface on the horizon, so we included some very light
colors and used some gold within the accent stitching. As
the rows progress, so does the journey under the sea, and
the fabrics darken toward the bottom of the block to give
this effect. Though we varied the landscape fabrics, we used
the same color of organza for each block to give a uniform
look. Let your imagination run wild while creating your own
mesmerizing seascape!
