To start your first block, hoop a piece of no-show mesh and run
the squaring stitch.
The next machine step is the tacking stitch. Trim away the excess
batting up to the tacking stitch.
Next, take a piece of batting and place it face up on top of the
squaring stitch. Make sure that the batting completely covers the
squaring stitch.
Once trimmed, run the placement stitch for the first appliqué.
Take the first appliqué fabric and place it on top of the placement
stitch. Be sure to cover the placement stitch entirely, and leave
1/2” seam allowance outside of the batting area.
Next run the tacking stitch for the first appliqué. Trim away the
excess appliqué fabric, and leave 1/2” seam allowance outside of
the batting area. NOTE: The seam allowance is necessary to
piece the blocks together.
