Run the next step in the block, which will be a placement stitch for
the first appliqué.
Take a piece of appliqué fabric and place it right side up over the
stitches, leaving enough fabric for a 1⁄2” seam allowance on all
sides.

The next step will tack down the appliqué. Now, use scissors to trim away the excess appliqué fabric, leaving
a 1⁄2” seam allowance on any fabric extending out side the block’s
edges.

Once trimmed, the appliqué will look something like this. Continue to follow your design’s numbered machine steps for the
remaining appliqué and decorative embroidery, stopping once
the marking stitch for the first shutter is ran (see white line).
