For children exceeding the age of 4, or any age determined by the family to be
beyond concern for choking, these buttons can be attached with velcro for even
more fun! Learn how to swap out the button back for a flat back and add velcro.
To create your buttons with velcro backs, gather the button
designs, the button kit, and a small cut of hook side velcro and
craft foam both cut slightly larger than the desired button size.
Using one of the flat discs from the button kit, draw a line around
the shape onto the front of the craft foam. Use scissors to cut the
foam and velcro combo to the traced size.
Using a hot glue gun, join the hook velcro and craft foam together.
NOTE: Portholes in blocks NAK12 and NAK13 will need to be ran
with felt appliqué instead of satin for the hook velcro to stick!
Using the button kit, place the button fabric right side down, then
continue to press the flat back with the pusher as the kit instructs.
Using a hot glue gun, place the foam and velcro combo (foam
side down) onto the button and press, letting it dry.
Once glued, gently remove the button from the button mold. Your buttons are now ready for easy on and off swapping on the
portholes of your scene!
