MEET THE FAMILY
Although the Tybee Marine Science Center is home to
over 250 marine creatures, the center only has a few
full-time residents. While walking through the gallery,
keep an eye out for the members of the family: Admiral
the loggerhead turtle, Maize the Corn Snake and Zelda
the Terrapin.

PROTECT OUR TURTLES
Each nesting season, May 1 - October 31, sea turtles
journey onto our beaches to lay their eggs along our
shores. To ensure a safe trip to and from the ocean,
we take special precautions to keep them safe.
How you can help:
• If you see a hole, with sand to help the
turtles with their journey to the dunes.
• Knock down sand castles to prevent the turltes
from encountering obstacles along their path.
• Pick up stray trash and toss it in the trash cans.
We want to have a clean beach for our turtles.
• Use amber or red light instead of white light.
Turtles use the moon as their guide to the ocean.

TEACH THE KIDDOS
Since opening its doors to the public in 1988, the
Marine Science Center has educated over 80,000
school aged children through their Coastal Classroom
programs. These two-hour classes give the children an
opportunity to learn about marine life both in and out
of the classroom.
