MAASAI
The Maasai people are an indigenous
group who live in a wide area of the
African Great Lakes region in East Africa.
The Maasai still live a semi-nomadic
lifestyle in parts of Tanzania and Kenya,
keeping up the traditions of their
ancestors, with some modern amenities.
Their brightly colored Shuka and Kanga
robes are dyed in bold reds and blues.
The ornate jewelry is not only beautiful,
but also gives you a glimpse into the life
of the wearer, as every color and bead
material carries meaning in status, and
who they are as a person.

TAMIL NADU
The southernmost state in India, Tamil Nadu
is the place of origin for the Hindu dance
Bharatanatyam. Each gesture, or Mudras, is
significant and the complex choreography
laces together to tell a story. The clothing
worn in Bharatanatyam is made up of bright
and vibrant pleated Saris, and includes bold
gold jewelry. The brightly colored Saris are
often made of silk with eye-catching
gold embellishments.
