One Charlotte-native organization has been
putting some pep in cancer survivors’ step for
over 15 years. Carolina Breast Friends is a nonprofit
organization started by founder
Kristy Adams-Ebel back in 2003. Her
vision and mission for starting the
organization was simple: to provide
a safe and positive environment
committed to helping build up breast
cancer survivors through all stages
of their process. Since their founding
years, Carolina Breast Friends has
certainly flourished into a much larger
mission for changing lives, developing into a social
and educational outlet on all things breast cancer
for the surrounding Charlotte area.
Breast cancer is a topic many people avoid in
conversation in fear of offending others or landing
on a sensitive matter. Breast cancer, however, is one
of the most commonly diagnosed
cancers in women, with nearly 1 in
8 women ending up diagnosed in
their lifetime. Having a community of
support to turn to becomes vital in
this life altering process, and Carolina
Breast Friends has worked hard to
provide these individuals with a safe
haven. The Pink House, located off of
E Morehead St. in Charlotte, NC, is a
stunning, multi-story home that was purchased by
Carolina Breast Friends and reworked to act as an
outreach center for anyone struggling with the various
