Making the Doily
A B
Before you begin, wind a bobbin in the same thread color you will
use for the rest of the design. Load the custom-color bobbin into
your machine and use it for the entire project.
Hoop two pieces of wash away stabilizer and run the first
machine step, which will be placement stitches for your appliqué.
C D
Lay the fabric right side up, making sure to cover all your
placement stitches.
Run the tacking stitch to secure your appliqués to the stabilizer.
E F
Using scissors, trim away the excess material from the tacking
stitches. NOTE: Take your time! A clean trim will ensure your
doily looks its best!
Once trimmed, your design should look something like this.
