The Old Spanish Mill located at DeLeon Springs State Park is famous for griddle cakes - each
table is equipped with a grill and a pitcher of batter is provided. (Park entrance fee required.)
After breakfast, enjoy the park which is supposedly the site of Ponce DeLeon’s “Fountain of Youth.”

Enjoy some hiking as you explore DeLeon Springs State Park. The park offers a half-mile
paved nature trail, with interpretive signs, that is wheelchair accessible. This trail passes
through a flood plain forest with cypress, hardwoods and other plants native to this area,
including a cypress tree that is more than 600 years old.

Grab a bite to eat at Dockside Deli at Hontoon Landing. Serving made to order sandwiches &
salads that are sure to fill you up before your next adventure.

Head out on the water by boat on the St. Johns River Heritage Tour. After observing Hontoon
Island State Park, the tour takes you south and then passes by Lake Beresford, Blue Spring
State Park and through an historic cypress logging canal. The tour exits the canal into a
tributary—Hontoon Dead River for the return trip to Hontoon. Along with the tranquility of
the St. Johns River, you will also see abundant wildlife, including alligator, anhinga, Great
Blue Heron, Great Egret, osprey, turtles and much, much more. There are frequent sightings

Watch the sunset over the river and dine waterside at St. John’s River Grille. The rooftop tiki
bar boasts one of the most scenic views of the St. Johns River and has the best sunset view of
the entire property. Live music is every Friday and Saturday.
