What is your motto or personal mantra? “When in doubt, reach
out.” and “It’s all good!” I also feel that I can always learn something
new every day.
Outside of work, what are your hobbies or hidden talents?
Horses have always been a big part of my life. I also have a love
for cooking, and had an amateur barbeque team that would
compete for the coveted “Pig Trophy” at horse shows and other
events. We competed in order to raise money so that we could
purchase books for schools. One of the most rewarding things
I have done was profiling horses for the Special Olympics when
it was hosted in Connecticut. To see the joy on the faces of riders
from all over the world when they entered the show ring was
amazing!
I enjoy traveling to Europe and taking master chef classes, and my
favorite culinary thing to make is different jams in the summertime.
To be honest, aside from that, I am also embroidering even when
I am not working. I just love to play in my sewing studio and of
course I have a great helper, Brody.
“Martha is always willing to help with any number of
questions that may come up. She is an excellent resource for
ideas and assistance with projects, and it is very evident that
she loves her job! Talking with Martha is always a pleasant
learning experience, and brings a smile to my face. She really
goes above and beyond for our customers every day.”
- Drea Goodine, Creative Manager
What else can you tell us about your faithful feline assistant?
Brody is a purebred seal point Persian Himalayan who joined our
family on my 65th birthday. He came to us at ten months old and
instantly fit in with Abby my other Himalayan, and Tibby our dog.
Brody has too much personality to be a show cat, is very curious,
and acts more like a dog. Everyone who has met him would like
to take him home, but he is a bit of a Momma’s boy.
When I bought the Pfaff ICON, Brody jumped into the bag and
seemed to think it was cool. When we unpacked the machine
itself, he loved that he could put his head through the throat of the
machine; and now “supervises” regularly while I stitch.
Brody also loves boxes, and the Anita Goodesign box is perfect
for him to curl up in while I am working. When I am embroidering
he is always in the sewing studio and loves to just curl up on
the fabric, especially the silk - he will hide under samples in the
shipping crates and then leap out. Sometimes if I cut fabric to
create a block he will “borrow” a piece or two and make off with it.
What do you want Anita Goodesign customers to know before
contacting you? The only thing I want customers to know is to be
as clear as possible with what they are asking. If they are having
issues I also need them to send me a photo, so I can see what is
going on - that can tell so much.
