Making a Difference!
Did you know there is a group of children often
forgotten because they do not have their
campaign or posters? They live in Winter Park,
Oviedo, Altamonte Springs and beyond. They are the
children of the unemployed and underemployed.
Imagine living with a parent that is struggling to make
ends meet when the holidays are coming around. It’s
stressful, it’s burdensome, and the children can see and
Last year, Stacy was trying to find a job, but it didn’t
come in time before the holidays. Stacy was invited
to shop for her son at the Christian HELP Christmas
Stacy’s appointment was first thing Thursday morning.
She arrived, so happy to be given the opportunity to shop
for Christmas presents. She found some items she knew
her son would want, but Stacy was looking for one thing,
in particular, Stacy had told no one, but Stacy knew what
she was hoping to find. She rounded the corner and there
it was, the “Pie in the Face” game.
Stacy started to cry when I asked why she explained that
she found the one thing her 9-year-old son had wished
for as a gift. We only had one of these to offer. There

arrived for her shopping experience.
Christian HELP’s mission is to help PREVENT
homelessness by assisting people to find jobs while

In December, all of our clients that are working with
Christian HELP to become self-sufficient are offered to
participate in the “Christmas Extravaganza” event. A
gym at a local church becomes our “Christmas Shop”
and parents can shop for free from toys donated by the
community. They get to choose the gifts for their children
and wrap them themselves. It just does not feel as much
as a hand out that way. Their dignity is preserved, and
that is important to them as they strive to better their
lives and that of their children. From there the parents
drive to the Christian HELP office and food bank and
receive either a turkey or ham and all the fixings to make
a wonderful holiday dinner with their families.
