WE MAKE IT EASY FOR YOU!
Each block features beautiful layers of appliqué that create
the landscape appliqué effect. The blocks in the top level
also feature a layer of organza for the landscape technique.
The decorative variegated thread on top of the organza
gives the appearance of wind blowing through the air. When
picking your appliqués for each block, try out different
textures to go along with solids, such as grunge, batik, or

crosshatching. This will add some interest to the hills and
mountains but not distract you from the detailed embroidery.
Also keep aerial perspective in mind as you’re choosing the
colors of your appliqués. Typically, as things recede or go
backwards in space, they become lighter and less saturated.
Often they shift to bluer tones if the sky is mostly blue, or
in the case of a sunrise or sunset, they can turn to a more
warmer red or even violet hue. We tried to capture the look
of both in our tile scenes!
