Start by cutting your binding strips 2.5” wide, which creates an
approximate 5⁄8” binding. We will show you how to attach the strips
in order to create one long binding strip measuring at least 80”. This
will be enough to wrap around the entire perimeter of your tile scene.

Then, at a 45° angle, stitch the two strips together leaving
a 1⁄2” seam allowance. Then, trim the seam allowance to
1⁄4” and press open. Repeat to connect enough strips to
equal 80”.

Once you’ve reached 1⁄2” away from the edge, turn the corner
to a 45˚ angle in your machine and stitch to the point.
With right sides together, lay two strips of binding perpendicular to
each other.
Starting at the bottom left side of the tile scene, place the
binding strip along the edge of the tile scene, right sides
together. Fold the start edge back as shown and stitch the
strip in place along the dotted line, using a 1⁄2” seam allowance.
Your binding should look like this at this point. Remove the
tile scene and binding from your sewing machine.
