A. Before framing, start by
flattening any embroidered
pieces by pressing the sew
out with a steam iron. With
so much embroidery on
some of the tapestries and
backgrounds, you will want
to ensure a flat lay.
B. Now, use a rotary cutter
and ruler to trim the
design directly along the
edges to remove the excess
seam allowance. Once flat
framed, the raw edges will be
concealed.
C. Once trimmed, your
embroidered design should
look like this.
For the steps that follow, you
will need to cut a piece of mat
board sized slightly smaller
than the embroidered piece.
D. Flip the embroidered design
over to the back side. Using
a hot glue gun, add a line of
hot glue along the 4 edges as
well as through the center of
the embroidery.
E. Press your pre-cut piece of
mat board onto the back of
the embroidery and smooth
the design over the board
using your hands. The mat
board will act to keep the
embroidery flat in the frame.
F. Gather all the unassembled
components to your chosen
flat frame, to include the
frame itself, the glass, any
included mat framing, the
back, and your mounted
embroidery piece.
G. Start by flipping the frame
face down on a work surface
and carefully add in the glass
pane and any included mat
framing.
H. Now, add your mounted
embroidery piece. The design
should fit snugly into the
frame. Be sure to place it in the
frame correctly oriented!
I. Finish off the framing by
adding the back piece and
closing any security locks
or sliders. Each frame has a
different finishing method,
so use caution and your best
judgment to secure.
