STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
STEP P
Now, take your binding strip and place it right side
facing down, aligning the edge of the binding along the
edge of the block's seam allowance. Fold the edge of
the binding into a triangle as shown, and pin in place.
Sew along the tacking line until you reach the first
corner. Once you reach the first corner, sew 45
degrees into the outer edge of your seam allowance
(see line for example).
STEP Q
Now, fold the binding strip back against the 45
degree line you just stitched (shown with dots).
STEP R
Fold the binding strip back on itself once more, lining
up the edge of the binding with the edge of the trivet's
seam allowance, as shown. Pin in place.
Transfer the block to your sewing machine and sew the
binding to the block using a 1⁄2" seam allowance.
