Using a rotary cutter and ruler, trim away any excess back fabric.
You will need approximately 160” of binding for this layout,
preferably cross-cut. Depending on the width of your binding
fabric, three or four 2 1⁄2” strips will need to be sewn together.
Your trimmed backing should be the same size as the quilt
top and from the front your quilt should look like this. Now
the quilt is ready to add binding.

Use your sewing machine to create a diagonal seam as
shown here.
Attach strips end to end, by placing two strips right sides
together so that strip 2 is perpendicular to strip 1, as shown.
Trim away any excess using scissors. Leave 1⁄8” seam allowance.
