Next, measure the book to be covered. Ours is 9” x 12”. Then,
double the width of that measurement, 18” x 12” for example, and
add 1 1⁄2” to the width and the height of that measurement. So for
our book, the final measurement is 19 1⁄2” x 1 31⁄2”, which is what you
will use to trim the fabric that you stitch the design on.
When the design is finished, remove the excess tear away.

To trim down the excess fabric of your design, start by
centering the design to the right side of the fabric and trim to
19 1⁄2” x 13 1⁄2”. Cut a piece of Batting and a lining to this same
size.
Cut 2 pieces of fabric to equal the height of the book by
the width of the front cover plus 1”. So our fabric pieces
measured 13 1⁄2” x 10”.

Fold these 2 pieces in half lengthwise and press the fold. Top stitch 1⁄8” - 1⁄4” from the folded edge.
