TWO DIFFERENT BLOCK TYPES
Before you begin, it is important to note that there are two types of block constructions included in this
tile scene. We’ve broken down the two styles below so you’ll know exactly what to expect, and which
blocks in the scene fall into the two categories.
BASE FABRIC BLOCKS
BLOCK NUMBERS 1-6 & 8-10
Creating these blocks is quite simple: with only one piece
of fabric laid as the base material after the batting, all the
block’s details and scene shading will be embroidered right
over top of the base material.
For these blocks, we highly recommend using a fusible
interfacing ironed onto the back of your base material in
order to help prevent any shifting or pulling as all the stitches
are added overtop. To learn how to create a block with just
the base fabric, read on to the Blocks with Base
Fabric Step-by-Step Instructions.
APPLIQUÉ BLOCKS
BLOCK NUMBERS 7 & 11-20
These blocks will require only a few additional steps since
they will have various appliqués included to help build the
scene. Items like the flowering bushes, the pavement, and
front porch steps all consist of basic, solid colored appliqués
to help add appropriate color and base shading, saving you
from dense filling stitches (and time)!
To learn how to create a block including appliqué, read on to
the Appliqué Block Step-by-Step Instructions.
