What’s your typical day at Anita look like? In the office there
is a lot going on. I’m paying attention to what three departments
are working on and trouble shooting as necessary. There are
many days where there are not enough hours and no day is
the same. It’s important for me to be able to multi task and time
manage effectively.
You are very involved with the fabric and color selection
of many of the collections that
are released each month. Can
you pinpoint where you got your
artistic touch? I can’t pinpoint where
it came from. It just exists. I used
to be pretty creative when I was
younger. I loved any type of art kit
or activity where I was crafting or
building with my hands. However, I
didn’t exercise any of that creativity throughout my education as
I was too caught up in socializing. As I got older, my need and
want to be creative would come out more and I started taking
different creative classes at random. Once I transitioned in to my
position with Anita Goodesign, I was exercising my creativity on
the daily. A lot of what I have learned here at Anita, I owe to our
Art Director, Carol.
What did you do before you came into the embroidery
business? I was a Special Education Teacher. I taught multi
grade levels. I started my education career with adolescent
boys grades 7-12 and from there I taught in a 1st grade Inclusion
Classroom. From there, I moved to North Carolina from
Rochester, NY and spent the last several years teaching grades
“Jenn and I work closely together everyday as we
juggle making sure collections come out looking right
and each All Access magazine is the best it can be.
She’s one of the most reliable people I’ve worked
with, and makes getting our product right not just
fun, but effortless.”

What’s one lesson you’ve learned
throughout your career? That if I am
going to work at my best, I need to
make sure that I am investing in self
care outside of work.
You’ve seen hundreds of
collections released in our All
Access issues. Are there any collections that still stick out to
you and draw you in? I love the collections of ours that are a bit
more modern. Needle and Thread is one collection that really
draws me in. The designs in this quilting collection are more
of my personal style and the fabrics that we used were from a
really fun fabric line: Cotton and Steel Rifle Paper Co Alice In
