S T
Fold the binding again, aligning the fold in the binding with the
raw edges of the seam you just sewed. Align the raw edges
of binding with the next edge of the quilt and pin in place.
Continue stitching the binding around with a ½” seam.
U V
Fold the binding over the raw edges of the quilt to the quilt
back. You can press the quilt from the front with a steam iron
for crisp seam lines and binding.
W X
Fold the binding in once more to wrap towards the back of the
quilt. Create a ⅝” double fold with the quilt sandwiched in the
middle. Pin the fold in place just beyond the stitching line.
To join the beginning and end of the strip, simply overlap the
end with the beginning by about 4”. This edge will finish itself
once you wrap the binding back. If you have more than 4” in
excess fabric, you can trim it away with scissors.
Now from the back of your quilt, fold the raw edge of the
binding in to meet the raw edge of the quilt, as shown.
Pin the binding to the back all the way around the quilt, taking
the time to make the mitered corners pretty as you go.
