PROJECT 131
MYLAR CHRISTMAS CARDS | ANITA'S EXPRESS | 280
JULY 2020
Meet the magical material called mylar!
Mylar is an interesting and unique way of adding some
sparkle and shine to your next project. Mylar is a very thin,
shiny material made from polyester resin film, developed by
the Dupont Company in the 1950s. More recently, mylar has
been used to make goods like chip bags, helium balloons,
electrical insulation, and now your embroidery!
This collection includes special digitizing that adds a gridlike
overlay stitch on top of the mylar appliqués. If you
are wondering where to buy mylar for a project like this,
we like to suggest firstly, to check your local craft supply
store, and secondly, look online at either Amazon.com or
heriloomsbysharon.com. If you search "Embroidery Mylar"
there are tons of options available, including colors like red,
green, blue, yellow, and even opalescent shades!
When planning your next embroidery project with mylar, we
suggest you gather thread colors that will match your chosen
mylar color, helping your mylar shine its brightest.
