Once trimmed, your block will look something like this.
Once the batting has been tacked down, use a pair of
scissors to trim away the excess batting from the tacking
stitch line.

Now, take a piece of base fabric and place it right side facing
up over the batting block. You will want to ensure you have
enough fabric for at least a 1⁄2” seam allowance on all sides.
Run the tacking stitch for the base fabric in a matching
thread color.
