Once you have sewn past your starting point, you may have
some excess binding as seen here.

Press the quilt with a steam iron from the front side to smooth
the binding. Be sure to press the binding from the face side
of the quilt top, paying attention to seam lines and corners.
Once pressed, the tile scene should look like this.

To create your binding edge, you will want to create a
double fold. To do so, fold the raw edges of the binding strip
inwards to meet the raw edge of the quilt top, then fold once
more to conceal the 1⁄2” seam line on the back of the quilt.
Use scissors to trim away any excess binding at this time.
Once trimmed, your binding should look like this.
Now, flip the quilt to the back and again steam and press the
binding from the back side to help it hug the quilt’s edge and
lay flat.
Use pins to secure the double fold binding around the quilt,
taking time to fold the corners in diagonally and pinning
them to secure.
