Poly-TWILL Heat Transfer Fabric is used commonly
throughout the stunning embroidery art created by Stephen
Wilson Studio. Of course, you can use any type of base
material for these designs, however, we were inspired
by techniques and materials that SWS uses to make their
artwork. If you prefer to use this material, you can either
hoop it along with the stabilizer or float a piece on top of the
stabilizer. Either way, the heat transfer feature of this specific
type of twill allows you to use an iron to further adhere it to
the stabilizer, resulting in an even more professional look.

CONFETTI VINYL APPLIQUÉ | MINI COLLECTION | 227
TERRIFIC TWILL
FABRICS
For this collection, we used a variety
of felt, cotton, and twill. Felt works
wonderfully as the drop shadow behind
the typography while the cotton sits
directly below the confetti and vinyl.
THREADS
All of our designs were stitched
out with embroidery thread that
coordinates with appliqués, confetti,
or the twill background. For the satin
stitch outline around the typography we
chose a few basic neutral colors to give
the design an ultra-clean finish.
VINYL AND CONFETTI
While we used 8 gauge clear vinyl, you
can explore transparent color-tinted
vinyl to add a pop of color on top of
your confetti. For our confetti, we used a
combination of yarn and embroidery floss.
