Place a piece of base fabric over the batting with enough
fabric for a 1⁄2” seam allowance on all sides.

Use a pair of scissors to trim away the excess base fabric
within each corner. NOTE: Be sure to leave at least a 1⁄2”
seam allowance along the top, bottom, and sides where
the white base fabric extends past the batting!

Run the next step, which will be a placement stitch for the
first piece of folded fabric.
Run the tacking stitch to secure the base fabric in place.
Once trimmed, your quilt block should look something like
this. NOTE: The solid black lines here indicate the edges of
the base fabric.
Now place your corner border fabric, right side facing
down, over the stitch line that touches the edge of the base
fabric, as shown above. Be sure that the fabric overlaps the
placement line by at least 1⁄4”.
