MAGNIFICENT MOTIFS & TERRIFIC TOILES
This collection includes two types of designs; colorful motifs, and traditional
toiles. While each design in this collection feature cherubim, the motifs are more
reminiscent of 18ʰ and 19ʰ century cherub artwork and the toiles were designed
to replicate the traditional late 18ʰ century Toile de Jouy (toile for short) patterns.
Traditionally, a Toile de Jouy pattern was most commonly seen on upholstery, but
now you can create your very own unique rendition of a toile with this collection
and your embroidery machine! Typically, a Toile de Jouy design was made up of
intricate one-color scenes situated on white or off-white backgrounds. While back
then, it was popular for the one-color pattern to be black, red, or blue, other colors
like green, brown, or magenta have also been used.
