FINISHING THE PILLOW
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
1 2
To begin piecing your pillow, start by trimming your newly
made “fabric” down to size. We started with a large cut of
fabric roughly 22” x 22” that featured our embroidery, so now
we will trim about 2” off each side in order to help square up
the edges.
Now, gather the rest of the materials for your pillow, including
a second cut of fabric for the back of your pillow, cut to
match the dimensions of your trimmed down fabric.
NOTE: Optionally, you can add a fun fringe, pom pom
trim, or other decorative finishes to the edges to make it
entirely your own! We used about 2 yds, or 72” of trim.

Using a pencil or tailor’s chalk, mark a line roughly 3⁄8” from
the outer edge. We will use this line around the base fabric to
help guide pinning the decorative trim.
NOTE: If you are skipping the trim, move on to step 7!
Now, place the decorative trim’s tape along the pencil line
with the “right” side of the trim facing inwards. Starting from
the middle of the bottom edge, use pins to secure the trim
along the edge of the fabric, leaving about a 1⁄2” of the trim
unsecured at the start/stop.
