TRIMMING YOUR FABRIC
Next we need to trim the fabric. If the tacking stitch of the
folded fabric touches the tacking stitch of the cornerstone
fabric, it is best to leave that area untrimmed, leaving a 1⁄2”
seam allowance. If the tacking stitch is completely inside
the quilt block and doesn’t touch the outer edge of the quilt
block, you can trim it closely. So for this piece of the folded
fabric border, the tacking stitch was completely on the inside
of the edge of the quilt block, so we trimmed close to the
tacking stitch.
