STITCHING OUT THE MAIN DESIGN
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
A B
Take a piece of base fabric and place it right side facing
up over the placement stitch box, being sure to cover the
stitches on all sides.
C D
Run the tacking stitch to secure the base fabric. Following your design’s numbered machine steps, run the
decorative embroidery, stopping before the final step.
E F
Remove the hoop from your machine and turn it over so the
back side is facing you. We will create the reverse trapunto
technique by working on this side of the hoop.
Take two layers of quilt batting and place them over the back
of the design, being sure the batting covers the animal’s
stitches entirely. Use tape to secure the layers on the back.
To begin, hoop one piece of tear away stabilizer and load
the “A” file for the animal you want to stitch. Run the first step,
which will be a placement stitch for the base fabric.
For this example, we are stitching DAB1A.
