Now take a pair of curved tip appliqué scissors and trim
away the excess batting from the back of the hoop.

Once trimmed, the back of your design should look like this. You can now remove the design from the embroidery hoop.

Using a pair of scissors or a rotary cutter and ruler, trim away
the excess fabric from the outer tacking stitch box, leaving at
least a 1⁄2” seam allowance. Trim right up to the tack
down line.
Your “A” file for the Animal Brooch is now ready. Set this
aside and move on to the next set of instructions to complete
the remainder of the brooch.
Return your hoop to your machine per usual and run the final
step. This will secure the two layers of batting onto the back
of the hoop using the bobbin thread. Once ran, the back of
your design should look similar to this.
