Run the next machine step. This is the tacking stitch that
secures the appliqué fabric to the design.

Trim the fabric on all sides except those that are directly
touching the stabilizer --these are needed to maintain a
seam allowance of at least 1⁄2” on all edges of the batting.
Once trimmed, your cornerstone appliqué should look
like this.
NOTE: Leave a seam allowance of at least 1⁄2” on any side
that fabric directly touches the stabilizer.

Run the next machine step, which is the placement stitch for
the first folded fabric. Notice that one side of the placement
stitch is extending over the cornerstone appliqué. This is
where the folding stitch will be.
Place fabric with the right side facing down along the side
of the cornerstone fabric that the placement stitch had
overlapped in step K.
Place your fabric over the entire placement stitch, being sure
that the fabric covers it on all sides.
