Place your fabric face up, covering the back of the design as
shown here. Use tape to secure the fabric in place.

Then return the hoop to your machine and run the next step,
which will be the tacking stitch for the back fabric.
Carefully remove the tape, and use scissors to trim away any
excess fabric on all sides of the design. Trim directly up to
the tacking lines, making sure not to clip any stitches.

Once trimmed, your deisgn should look something like this. Before the next machine step, run a matching bobbin in the
color for your satin stitch. This will give a polished look so the
front and back edges of the freestanding pieces match.
Remove your hoop from the machine, and turn over to the
back side as shown here.
