Place base fabric right side up over the placement stitch,
being sure to cover it entirely.

Run the base fabric tacking stitch to secure the material to
the design.
Trim away the excess base fabric from it’s tacking stitch.

Once trimmed, your base fabric should look something
like this.
Complete any standard embroidery by following your
design’s numbered machine steps for the indicated color
changes. At some point, there will be a placement stitch for
the first appliqué. Run the placement stitch.
Run the next machine step, which is the placement stitch that
shows you where to place the base fabric.
