THE TRIED & TRUE METHOD A QUICK PINTEREST INSPIRATION
Printing out a paper copy of a colorway form, or even making
up a simple one on your own, can help your mind keep
track of ideas, colors, and certain elements you want to be
consistent throughout. We’ve included a PDF copy of the
same Colorway sheet we typed up and use at Anita, and our
entire Creative Team can confirm that using a sheet with all
your info in one spot can make keeping track of your project,
(and all it entails) sew much easier! Now, if you have to pause
a project, you can easily pull the same threads later!
Another important reminder when planning your colorway is to make sure details that carry
through the collection are done in the same colors, such as repeated florals or bugs, or
maybe even the patterns in your appliqués. It’s also wise to try and equally rotate through
all the colors (or fabrics) you chose whenever possible, which will help the finished quilt look
consistent and clean.

WORDS OF
WISDOM
One of our team’s go-to methods for finding inspiration starts
with searching for color palettes on Pinterest. Whenever
we have a specific shade or idea in mind, we start scouring
posts on Pinterest for a palette that works well together.
For example, if we really like a vibrant palette for something
tropical, we’ll try looking up “jewel-toned color palette” and
choosing an image to start. After finding a suitable color
palette on Pinterest, you can then compare it to the materials
you have on hand to start prepping your designs.
