Spacer Blocks
While the alphabet blocks are used to create short sayings in the center of your quilt, the spacer blocks are
meant to be arranged around and in between the letter blocks. This arrangement will help give your eye a
visual break between the border and the stitched message. After all, what good is a collection meant to create
short sayings, if those messages are hard to read! In this section we’ve included five different spacer blocks,
each with subtle similarities to the other designs in this collection. The bean-stitched details in the backgrounds
of these blocks are simplistic and include a variety of garden-esque elements. For example, one of the spacer
blocks is made up of sunflowers and bees buzzing around, while another has clusters of lilies spread evenly
throughout. Since these blocks are comprised of stippling and a one-color bean stitch design, they are quick
and easy to stitch out.
You can choose to incorporate a bunch of the same spacer block design for a more consistent overall look or
choose to interchange all five designs.
